Nexus Live announces new Oisima collaboration, Frank Yamma and Surahn (The Swiss, DFA) for Nexus Live’s second series

Nexus Arts, the centre of inclusive, culturally diverse arts in Adelaide, announces the exciting and eclectic music lineup for the second series of Nexus Live’s 2015 program, over four Friday evenings in October.

Highlights from the series include new music from Adelaide singer, songwriter and producer Surahn Sidhu (Empire of The Sun, The Swiss), future beats creator Oisima returns to create a new composition with fascinating collaborators and indigenous treasure Frank Yamma heads up a night of acoustic music featuring Max Savage.

DearJohn03 Nexus Live’s second series for 2015 kicks off with two evenings (Oct 2 + 3) of the OzAsia co-presentation Dear John, Taiwan’s M.O.V.E theatre’s arrestingly beautiful tribute to the American avant-garde composer John Cage.

RemasterdMyths_12_07_2015-137Adelaide’s favourite bearded beat maker Oisima once again pulls together some incredible and diverse musicians to create a new composition on October 9, including the traditional Javanese vocals and percussion of Ria Soemardjo and Japanese shamisen maestro Noriko Tadano.

Frank-NSW-MedResOn October 19 Frank Yamma headlines a stunning intimate evening of acoustic storytelling, featuring Adelaide’s Max Savage. This evening is bound to be exceptional display of songs that cut right through to the cultural psyche of Australia.

SURAHN LP press shot 1The series is concludes on October 23 with new music from Surahn’s debut solo album Into The Distance. The Australian singer, songwriter and producer’s credits include being a founding member of The Swiss, playing with Empire Of The Sun, Favoured Nations and Flight Facilities and working with Usher, Kimbra, and DFA.

The evening will begin with a set from electronic darlings, and recent Robert Stigwood Fellowship recipients SKIES.
