Originally from Victoria, Merinda Edwards attended Geelong Grammar school on a music and vocal scholarship. A move to Adelaide changed the trajectory of her career from the next Katie Noonan, Mariah Carey or a potential sixth member of the Spice Girls – with a completion of Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (Honours).
With a sparked interest in the environment and community development, Merinda then completed a PhD in Philosophy at the University of South Australia. Alongside her extensive studies, teaching and research career, Merinda has always been a keen event planner and involved in the music and hospitality scene.
Managing an array of venues and festivals in both Victoria and South Australia, Merinda has helped build the Nexus Arts venue into the multicultural performance and music hub it is today.
