Nexus Arts presents Creative Pathways

The Nexus Creative Pathways program is a year long intensive development program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) musicians.

The program strives to equip participating artists with a broad range of knowledge and skills necessary to operate as a successful independent artist in the Australian music industry. Creative Pathways aims to drive business and individual artistic development concurrently as well as identifying opportunities for audience development and the development of revenue streams for participating artists.

Nexus Arts is proud to announce that we have received funding from Fringe Festival 2018.  Since its inception in 2014, dozens of Australian artists have received grants from the Artist Fund to present work in the Adelaide Fringe, and many have gone on to tour the world.
The Nexus Arts Creative Pathways Concert and Workshop is one of fifteen diverse Australian acts that will share in a record $85,500 from the Adelaide Fringe Artist Fund to present work at next year’s Fringe.   As well as the Nexus Arts funding projects also include a large-scale corroboree on Ngarrindjeri country, a feminist cabaret show, an escape-room-style theatre adventure, an Indian-Australian contemporary dance piece and a comedy and music extravaganza featuring an ensemble of four disabled artists and an Auslan interpreter.

About Creative Pathways Concert

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts are a rich contribution to the world’s culture, and to Adelaide’s diverse contemporary culture and national identity. This night will be a festival of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures as living forces with their own strengths and influences, not just as remnants of the past.

A night of engaging audiences of all sorts we also acknowledge traditional language in song is vital to assisting Indigenous communities to preserve and learn language. By placing language in contemporary music it places it into a current context and showcases the relevance of language in contemporary society.

The Creative Pathways Concert is an all night celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander contemporary artists.  Beer Garden and venue will be open all night for a Fringe Festival Party at Nexus Arts on the 17th of February doors at 7:30pm.
