Ngundakati: Music

Celebrating the rich contribution to the world’s culture of Indigenous people, this performance brings together leading contemporary SA artists Corey Theatre, Vonda Last, Nathan May and Jessica Wishart in an intimate evening of language, culture, songs and storytelling through music.

The word Ngundakati comes from the Gunditjmara language of Western Victoria meaning music or ceremony.

This program has been supported by the Adelaide Fringe Artist Fund.

Diverse Screens

“Diverse Screens” is a series of short films and artist profiles by culturally diverse artists and film makers commissioned by Diversity Arts Australia (NSW). The films present diverse views on the trials and tribulations of being a multicultural artist in Australia. Presented alongside “Farrago” an evolving audience-participatory pictorial wonderland by Russian Adelaide based artist Anna Cherkasova.

As part of Diversity Arts Australia’s Beyond Tick Boxes: Cultural Diversity in the Arts in Sydney , DARTS commissioned Maria Tran, Ali Mousawi, Roxie Vuong and Thuy Nguyen to take on the theme of cultural diversity in the arts. These films are specifically designed to provoke, inspire and generate discussion. Shake up your perspective and reset your understanding of what arts diversity means and could mean.

Nexus Arts is excited to premiere this project in Adelaide as part of the Fringe Festival.

Thursday 1st March, 7:30pm
Featuring a panel discussion with guest speaker Lena Nahlous, DARTS Director, in conversation with culturally diverse artists and film makers from SA and NSW.
