The Nexus Gallery showcases emerging and established artists from diverse cultural backgrounds working across a range of mediums in a contemporary context.

You can see our 2018 Exhibitions program on the What’s On page.

Nexus Arts is a contemporary arts organisation generating positive social outcomes by promoting understanding, acceptance and respect, celebrating difference and diversity through the arts. With a long and proud history nurturing artists and delivering art-rich content surrounding themes of cultural diversity, Nexus Arts has supported many local South Australian, interstate and international artists through its Visual Art and Gallery program.

Nexus Arts’ curated Visual Arts program presents artists who push the boundaries of contemporary art practice, initiate discourse and debate about cultural diversity through their works, and explore new ways of expressing relevant social issues surrounding cultural diversity in Australia.

Nexus cultivates opportunities for further discussion on the themes explored in each exhibition through workshops, artist talks, and academic writings, critique and reflections. Nexus Arts’ programming aligns with many cultural and artistic festivals, participating in the rich cultural landscape of South Australia which results in greater exposure for artists.

Twice annually Nexus hosts emerging South Australian artists in residence in the Nexus Studio, accompanied by a solo exhibition at the conclusion of their residency. No other studio space in South Australia is dedicated to the development of emerging contemporary artists from culturally diverse backgrounds, or artists who explore cultural diversity through their practice.
