Brazilian singer/guitarist Anna Setton is a born samba, MPB, bossa nova and choro performer whose style evokes the classics of the Brazilian music tradition – João Gilberto, Tom Jobim and Dorival Caymmi, to name but a few.
The beautiful São Paulo native modernises the rich history of Brazilian music, and in ?fteen years onstage has become the voice of Brazil’s long tradition in jazz, sharing the stage with peers like João Bosco and Toquinho.
Imagine a gossamer curtain falling around ?oating chords from a nylon string guitar, and you approach the tone of Setton’s hypnotic vocal in a band setting. It’s a truly calming, emotionally rich and seductive experience.
Setton has performed around the world in iconic theatres and jazz festivals like Parco Della Musica (Rome), Theatre Grec (Barcelona), San Javier (Spain) and Brazilian Summer Fest in Central Park, New York.
Anna is appearing with her trio at Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival to play songs from her 2018 eponymous debut, along with standards from the much loved Brazilian tradition.
