Farhan Shah and Brothers

Summer Twilight Sessions // An hour of beautiful music to ease you through the working week.

Featuring acclaimed Australian artists, these captivating performances will explore contemporary takes on traditional music. Experience the sounds and traditions of Cuba, South Asia and Iran in these three unique, yet beautifully aligned, musical offerings.

Farhan Shah and Brothers

Experience one of the most exciting devotional musical traditions: Qawwali, the mystical form of Sufi music played from the Middle East through many parts of India and South Asia. Featuring the phenomenal vocals of Farhan Shah, formerly from Karachi, with a formidable group of accompanying musicians and singers, including powerhouse tabla player Chetan Ramlu (NZ), Ravi Madhawan on harmonium (Melb), vocalists Kuldeep Bains and Ram Laal (Syd) and Adelaide’s Keith Preston on Kashmir Santoor.

The ancient wisdom of Sufi Qawwali is carried through this ensemble’s music: a wisdom that is not only heard, but profoundly felt. Audiences will experience a musical embodiment of this universal message of devotion and tolerance that is crucial to our time.
