International collaborators, trumpeter Niran Dasika and Japanese pianist Sumire Kuribayashi reunite in a concert of lyrical, minimalist compositions and improvisations. ‘Kiri’ is a suite of music inspired by the paintings of Kaii Higashiyama, which capture the ethereal beauty, drama and pathos of Japanʼs natural landscapes and seasonal change.

Dasikaʼs distinctive, ethereal trumpet and virtuosic lyricism have won acclaim around Australia, earning him the 2019 Young Australian Jazz Artist of the Year, the 2019 APRA AMCOS Professional Development Award, a finalist for the 2020 Freedman Fellowship and second place at the 2017 National Jazz Awards. Kuribayashiʼs unique and dynamic touch on the piano puts her in high demand as a performer in Japan and Europe. Described as ʻravishingʼ (Sydney Morning Herald) and ʻexquisiteʼ (Australian Book Review), this rare performance by the duo is not to be missed.
