Explore memory, identity and connection through the universal language of music.
A dusty letterbox tucked away in a corner. You leaf through its pages, and a tapestry of reconnections springs to life — stories of people, places and memories brought vividly to the senses.
What are our stories? Where do we come from, and what connects us?
Presented by Nexus Arts Orchestra, Letters from Home is an evocative cross-cultural musical performance celebrating the power of music to bring people and cultures together. The performance features world-premiere works by South Australian cellist and composer Jack Overall, exploring themes of memory, identity, belonging and connection through sound.
Experience a unique ensemble of talented musicians performing on a rich array of traditional and contemporary instruments, including the Guzheng, Santoor, Erhu, percussion, guitars, flute, double bass, violin and cello.
Featuring:
- Maryam Rahmani – Santoor
- David Dai – Erhu
- Satomi Ohnishi – Percussion
- Alain Valodze – Guitars
- Jenny Hu – Flute
- Gustavo Quintino – Double Bass
- Jacob Plooij – Violin
- Zhao Liang – Guzheng
