Studio Residencies

Nexus Arts’ Visual Arts program presents, develops, and supports a diverse range of artists, media and subject matter. We seek artists who work at the forefront of contemporary arts practice, who initiate vital discourse through their works.

Now in its ninth year, the Nexus Arts Studio Residency Program delivers professional development outcomes for emerging and early career South Australian artists from culturally diverse or First Nations backgrounds.

Each of the three Residency opportunities will provide the successful applicant with access to a free CBD-located studio space for 3 months, during which they will develop new work for a significant exhibition in the Nexus Arts Gallery.

Each residency will include a supported mentorship with a leading South Australian creative practitioner or relevant industry professional, selected by the applicant and negotiated with Nexus Arts. Exhibition outcomes will be presented both in person and digitally.

ABOUT NEXUS ARTS

Nexus Arts is a leader in intercultural artistic practice. Nexus presents contemporary art of the highest quality, celebrating and promoting artists from culturally diverse and First Nations backgrounds. We are the only contemporary arts organisation in South Australia with this focus, and have been throughout our more than 35-year history. Nexus Arts creates opportunities for artists from different backgrounds to connect, intersect and collaborate, and to explore the notion of interculturalism in Australian arts. We strive to foster excellence in contemporary arts by supporting culturally diverse and First Nations artists with development programs and presentation opportunities.

In 2024, we are delighted to be working with artists:
