Audience Research Project

As a member of our culturally and linguistically diverse community, what do you think we can do better?

If you love live music, going to galleries and getting out to arts events, life probably looks a little different for you at the moment. If you are an Australian from a non-Anglo background, then this might not be the only barrier you’ve encountered to participating in the arts.

At Nexus Arts we are working with The Research Nexus on a research project which aims to discover your experiences accessing the arts in Adelaide, and especially what might stop you getting involved in everything this city has to offer. Our friends at Diversity Arts Australia have done a lot of research into the underrepresentation of culturally diverse artists and those working in the arts right across the country, but we’re keen to know why this is reflected in our audiences too.

That’s why we need your help. We want you to tell us about your experiences attending the arts. We’re going to be running four focus groups in July: one in Arabic, one in Mandarin, one in Spanish and one in English. We’re keen to hear what you love and what you don’t love – what works for you, and what doesn’t.

With your support we’ll be able to start making the changes needed to make sure that you feel welcome at every event you attend. Please consider taking part and sharing your thoughts and experiences with us by filling out the survey below.
