Milind Tulankar with Shri Ganesh Tanwade on tabla and Shri Ganesh Papal on Pakhawaj drum.

“The performance of Milind Tulankar was nothing short of spellbinding…a symphony of sound and sensation, a harmonious blend of the ancient and the modern.” The New Indian Express.

Milind Tulunkar is an eminent exponent of the Jal Tarang, a unique Indian classical instrument. He has performed in over 21 countries over the last 37 years. The name Jal Tarang comes from ‘jal’ meaning water and ‘tarang’ meaning ‘the waves in water’. The music is created by the vibration of porcelain bowls filled with water, producing unique melodic tones and harmonic overtones. Talunkar uses the 80-year-old instrument on which his grandfather first instructed him.

Tulunkar will be performing in Adelaide as part of a wider tour of South East Asia and Oceania, with percussionists Shri Ganesh Vishwanath Tanwade (tabla) and Shri Ganesh Papal (Pakhawaj).

All three musicians are masters of their instruments and are on a mission to introduce the Jal Tarang, an ancient instrument on the verge of extinction, to a new audience and an emerging generation of musicians.

Don’t miss this very rare opportunity to see & hear one of India’s master musicians, Milind Tulankar.
