Studio Residencies

Nexus Arts is currently welcoming applications for the following visual arts opportunities:

  • 2023 Adelaide Fringe Residency
  • 2023 SALA Festival Residency

Nexus Arts’ Visual Arts program presents, develops, and supports a diverse range of artists, media and subject matter. We seek artists who work at the forefront of contemporary arts practice, who initiate vital discourse through their works.

Now in its eighth year, the Nexus Arts Studio Residency Program delivers professional development outcomes for emerging and early career South Australian artists from culturally diverse or First Nations backgrounds, and/or artists whose work engages directly and authentically with interculturalism.

Each of the two Residency opportunities will provide the successful applicant with access to a free CBD-located studio space for 3 months, during which they will develop new work for a significant exhibition in the Nexus Arts Gallery.

The first opportunity will be offered to align with the Adelaide Fringe Festival 2023, allowing the selected artist to be supported in developing a significant professional visual arts project and showcase it to a wide audience. The second studio residency artist will align with South Australian Living Arts (SALA) Festival 2023. Both residencies will include a supported mentorship with a leading South Australian creative practitioner or relevant industry professional, selected by the applicant and negotiated with Nexus Arts. Exhibition outcomes will be presented both in person and digitally.
