Hoa Huy is an exhibition born from the contemplation of generational divides between parents and children of the Asian diaspora and their untold family histories. Jazmine’s processes consider the remnants of ‘ghostliness’ and intergenerational transmissions that occur from those who survived genocide or were children of those who did.
Situated within Nexus Arts gallery, which houses an ongoing iterative installation of photographic material and a re-constructed biography of her family members, Jazmine will present a performance sharing presentation.
Jazmine is interested in seeking validity through incompleteness, and how performance can act as a model to move on from the past in a collective way, reclaim unspoken culture, and reorientate ourselves to how we connect to bodies and those we share blood with. The performance seeks to expand the possibilities for interdisciplinary practice as an artist exploring personal and culturally sensitive experiences.
