A concert of passionate Greek songs about Peace, Joy, Justice, Love, Identity, Suffering, and Rejoicing, ‘Our Earthly Sojourn’ explores the experience of life lived from the cradle to the grave, of fighting for one’s right to a good life, despite wars, genocide, starvation, displacement and migration. It reminds us of the important qualities of life – love, friendship, community, peace, guidance from “Mother Earth’ (the land, the sea, the moon, the sun, the animals and plants e.t.c). The selection of songs belong to the modern genre of Greek music known as Entekhna – ‘art-composed songs set to modern poetry’
The concert features distinguished vocalists and instrumentalists from Adelaide who perform in various ensembles, orchestras and bands, and have come together for this one event as interpreters and custodians of a long Greek music-making tradition.
